Dear Bike4BGC Supporter,
Because of you, the Boys & Girls club of Dane County has celebrated many milestones so far this year, including raising more than $450K for our young people through Bike4BGC. Here are some highlights of our accomplishments during the first seven months of the year.
Through a countywide Youth and Unity Summit during a difficult time in our region, we led an effort to provide 1,200 kids with workshops and classes on how to engage constructively with law enforcement officials.
Through our AVID/Tops program, we graduated 113 seniors who are ALL going to college. This program is now the largest public/private partnership in MMSD and more than 1,000 students are enrolled in the program.
We secured a multi year education grant through Great Lakes to serve hundreds of students in the Verona School District, making Boys & Girls Club its largest educational support partner.
We announced the John & Jo Mckenzie Scholarship fund which will provide a $100K college scholarship for one lucky student to attend college. We believe this is the largest scholarship in Dane County offered to a single student.
We secured new administrative office space for $1 a year so we could build new programming space for kids at our Clubs and expand our programming operations this summer for kids in Sun Prairie.
We built out the first community and teen fitness center in South Madison, which will encompass a STEM Lab, set to open in August. During the same time we placed 209 students in paid internships and career opportunities throughout Dane County. And, this year is not over!
We also learned from Boys & Girls clubs of America that we are one of three Boys & Girls Clubs in the Midwest Region (13 states) which had significant positive growth in total youth served, registered members and average daily attendance.
We continue to be thankful for your support and for helping us get things done for our local kids.
Save-A-Load is a proud to sponsor of this great organization.
